The Lover of The Lover of The Lover first premiered at Nebraska Wesleyan University in the fall of 2023. Even then, the playwright and director Ashton Barlow knew that he wanted to take the show to the Kansas City Renaissance Festival. In the spring of 2024, Ashton cast Rebecca Ford and Kevin Armaro as the next Colombina and Arlecchino.
They put the show together very quickly and took the show on the road, 3-hour road trips every Friday to make it to the festival, long days of performing, even longer nights driving back… it was all so worth it. Making friends at the festival, taking on more and more work- such as the parade and the human death chess match, and of course, showing the world an “ancient, almost lost to time itself art form!”
